Introducing Matt Hanson’s Podium Training Plans

PrintSince MHC was developed in 2015, it has sought to help athletes reach their training and racing goals through sound coaching principles. Up until this point, this has been done through fully customized coaching plans. However, we certainly understand that a fully customized training program is not for every individual. So we are happy to announce the addition of Matt Hanson’s Podium Training Plans to the list of services we offer.

The Podium Training plans will be a customized training plan for a specific course rather than to an individual. However, it does not stop there. Coaching is done more through communication rather than just giving workouts. Athletes who purchase a Podium Training plan will have access to all of the MHC coaches for questions as they train for their upcoming race. They will also have access to a forum with other athletes training for the same race. Coaches Matt, Liz, and Caitlin will all be monitoring and responding to questions on the forum, but this will also be a place for athletes to encourage each other as they build into their race. All athletes will also have access to discounts and deals offered by the team’s sponsors. 

Currently, MHC has a Podium Training plan for the following races (but more to come as Matt has more podium races!):

  • Ironman Texas
  • Ironman Coeur d’Alene
  • Ironman Wisconsin
  • Ironman Chattanooga
  • Ironman New Zealand
  • Ironman 70.3 Racine
  • Ironman 70.3 Galveston
  • Des Moines Capitol Cup Olympic
  • Towne Lake Olympic

Why These Courses?

Finish 2 Each of these races are courses where Matt has performed particularly well. Matt has won Ironman Texas, Ironman Chattanooga, Des Moines Capitol up, and Towne Lake Olympic with a course record performance at three of these races. Matt was also top 5 at Ironman New Zealand, Ironman Wisconsin, Ironman Coeur d’Alene, Ironman Racine 70.3, and Galveston 70.3. Matt also has the current run record at IMTX, IM CdA, IMNZ, and the Towne Lake Olympic races. Matt will be designing each of these programs based on his experiences on the courses as well as his strong understand of the human body and how it adapts to exercise which he has gained through his 10 years of studying and teaching in Exercise Science. As Matt has great performances on more and more courses, more Podium Plan courses will become available. 

How It Works
Athletes can subscribe to the Podium Training Plan by clicking HERE. After enrolled, MHC will set up a basic training peaks account (or link to your existing TP account) and insert the plan on a monthly basis. Plans are 6 months in length, however athletes may begin at any time within that 6 month window. The cost of the Podium training plans are $75/month.
